Michael Keyser is best known as a photographer, filmmaker, author, and Porsche privateer—made 3 official attempts at the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 1970s ('72, '74 & '76), competing primarily in Porsche machinery. His Le Mans outings were part of a broader endurance‑racing career that included major events in both the U.S. and Europe, culminating in a 1976 Sebring 12 Hours victory. While he never claimed a Le Mans podium, his entries reflected the classic American privateer spirit of the era, blending creativity, grit, and deep involvement in the sport’s culture.

J. David “Dave” Cowart was primarily an IMSA standout, known for GTO championships and the Red Lobster Racing BMW M1 program. His Le Mans appearance came during the era when American IMSA teams frequently brought Porsche 935 variants to France. He competed once at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 1982, driving a Porsche 935L for Bob Akin Motor Racing. Although his Le Mans run ended early, Cowart’s endurance racing legacy is stronger at Sebring, where he competed 11 times and later became a co‑promoter helping preserve the event during a difficult period.
