Join our Network!

You got into podcasting because it was fun, and you wanted to be creative and share stories with the world, right?

Don’t get bogged down in the technical aspects of podcasting. The “struggle to 30” (episodes) is still very real for creators; with our platform you don’t have to worry about “episode cadence” because your audience is already built-in; and constantly growing. You have immediate crossover opportunities with other shows and personalities on MPN because we all work together to make each other’s shows better. More importantly, many creators don’t realize how much is involved in the post-production process of a show, from Editing, Marketing, and social media (and more). It quickly becomes a full-time job.

FAQ’s about the Motoring Podcast Network.

We’ve adopted several shows as part of the MPN and have seen excellent results allowing our creators to do what they do best, enjoy the art of storytelling because #everyonehasastory.

  • What are the requirements, minimum number of episodes, etc., to join the Network?
We are looking to foster creators with under 30 episodes and help them grow. A show with 100 episodes is considered “established” or “too large” to absorb; but we could discuss further production or cross-promotional and “affiliate network” options.
  • What types of programs do you cater to?
Many of us here are Automotive Historians, Motorsports Fanatics and/or Vehicle Enthusiasts. The saying around the office is “If it’s got an engine and a way to steer it, we’re interested!” But the focus of the Network is specifically “Motoring” topics: Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Motorsports, or anything that loosely falls into those categories.
  • What do you consider the benefits?
Podcasting can be expensive. It’s just like running a small business. Do you have the budget to maintain the podcast server, website, domain name, transcription, editing, and recording platform costs long-term? The industry standard for “viability” of a podcast is reaching a milestone of over 30 episodes (anywhere from 20-60 hours of content), which seems low, but once you realize how much work goes into that, it can become frustrating.
  • Are there any revenue sharing opportunities?
Let the MPN find sponsors and advertisers for your show! But, if you bring us a sponsor it’s 70% (to you)/30% split, If we provide a sponsor for you it’s the reverse (we still must cover all the backend expenses). If we’re doing more work for your show: websites, posts, social, or editing, it lowers to a simple 50%/50% split depending on our agreement.
  • Examples of how you promote creators on the Network. How often does the MPN promote the show on social media?
We promote episodes/shows when something new is produced, or if something else in our catalogue overlaps, or say is mentioned in a program like The Drive Thru (MPN’s monthly news episode); mileage varies depending on what is going on at any given time during the season. We post on social media daily @motoringpodcastnetwork and collaborate with our creators to maximize exposure. And there is always an article, blog post, etc., somewhere with follow along (and SEO meta data) somewhere – i.e.: their website, our magazine, etc.
  • How often can a show air on your network?
How often – that really depends on the creator. Some of our creators release completely ad-hoc, some with regularity; and that’s completely OK! We always have other episode (and shows) in the pipeline to keep up the cadence and constantly engage with our audience.
  • How would a creator’s podcast SEO be affected by joining your network?
If we adopt a show their Podcast (and their SEO) would become an arc of the flagship Break/Fix Podcast. This is why we cater to creators with small shows who don’t have time to produce their own work, while keeping up with the rising costs of producing podcasts, and see more value in their storytelling. This also means, creators don’t have to stick to a strict release schedule, it lowers the pressure, and they have a built-in audience whenever they drop an episode. But we make sure that all “the SEO tricks” are applied for maximum exposure of their work.
  • Do you modify the creators’ content in any way?
We don’t edit a creators work unless they specifically ask us to or as part of a services contract; because editing time is expensive. Often when we’re involved in a show post-production, we’ll conduct a very light scrubbing and then add packaging around the content for the MPN, plus transcription, closed-captions, multi-platform distribution, sometimes artwork, SEO and all the other necessary publishing tasks to make an episode go live.
  • Do you have way to absorb a show that went off air?
Yes, if you’re looking to get out of the podcasting business but don’t want to make all your hard work disappear, we are capable of archiving and backdating your show/episodes as well as re-promoting them. We don’t have an episode limit in this case. Each show on our feed is labeled separately and can be searched for by its original name despite being part of the Break/Fix RSS feed.
  • Do shows archive in perpetuity on the MPN? What happens if both parties decide to part ways at some point?
Episodes will remain available (like any show) so long as someone is paying to keep the lights on! But in the case of “out growing the MPN” or “separation from the MPN” the creators would retain the rights to their original content, which they should be keeping backups of regardless. If they decide to move on, they also bear the financial brunt of maintaining their own podcast hosting, etc. When separation is complete, there will be no more support from the MPN. In the end the creators are always responsible for maintaining the master copies of their work.
  • What other support to do have for creators?
We are fortunate to be leaders of a  Patreon Sponsored Support Club for Podcasters. We have regular strategy sessions, and office hours, to help creators in their journey. We even have a special break-out room for “petrol-pods” where you can share ideas, ask questions, setup collaborations and crossovers with other podcasters in the Automotive genre. It’s a great place to mindshare with creators from all over the world!
